This is one nice Netbook... Does everything you can imagine of. No need for a cdrom/dvd drive, you can put anything you want onto a usb stick drive and your good to go. Fast enough to watch 720p movies off hulu or youtube etc. Not slow at all, good feel keyboard. BEST mouse pad ever, I love the little dots that show you where the touchpad ends and begins, all my friends agree. Battery is like 9 hours, with full "high performance" overclocking on. Web cam is a little slow at refreshing, but its pretty sharp for the size of the netbook, 10/10. (I don't think the 2GB of ram is necessary, I had 2 in my old laptop, but this one is just so fast with XP and Ubuntu running on it, I will not be upgrading my memory

Amazon has earned my adoration yet one more time with a wonderful purchase and a safe and sound and speedy delivery. I love this little netbook. I bought the 3 item bundle offered (the netbook itself, 2gig upgrade memory, and the ext DVD writer).
Measuring 10" x 7" (smaller than an 8x10 photo) and weighing less than 2 lbs, this little netbook is 2/3 the size and 1/4 of the weight of my hubby's cumbersome laptop. Even with the ext DVD screen and a set of headphones, this baby will be far less effort, bulk and weight to bring with us when we travel. I'm looking forward to future travels with it in tow.
The black seashell case I chose is gorgeous with sparkles in the finish, the screen colors are brilliant and the backlit screen makes it easy to see in all types of light, and the 92 percent sized keyboard is a dream. The touch pad is problematic for me personally. I feel too many features have been crammed into its 2x2" area and it's taking some getting used to for me but I'm sure experienced blackberry users will love the features of magnification built into its sides.
I had to additionally purchase a decoder for the dvd writer [...] and that was made amazingly easy by going to the Amazon sponsored site [...] I downloaded the application to my own computer,installed using its wizard, and in less than 5 minutes I was up and running an old movie favorite perfectly. Had I not read the customer reviews here at Amazon, I'd have never known the possibility existed that my external dvd would not work without further purchase of a decoder. The company that makes this cutie should do their customers a big favor and tell them the decoder might be another necessary purchase and give the recommended sites where they can easily secure the item. Amazon is the bomb when it comes to servicing their customers.
I installed the upgraded 2gig memory I purchased by following a great visual instruction video on [...] that I highly recommend.
From the moment of purchase here at Amazon where the information and accessories and customer reviews are all so thorough, to posting one of my own photos (Happy birthday to me)this entire process has been a pleasure. I love my new ASUS netbook and highly recommend the product. I would purchase this any day over a full sized heavy bulky laptop.

Does everything I wanted it to do and it fits in the saddle bag of my motorcycle. Fast enough to do most things my full size laptop does. I did opt for the 2gb of ram which makes a noticeable difference. I wish the n wireless ran at a full 300bps and not 150bps. Battery is killer. I get between 8-10 hours of battery life depending on what I am doing with this netbook. I wish the hard drive would have been designed to be upgraded. Over all a very nice purchase

I bought this netbook in September after my Sony Vaio got fried at a conference (someone 'helped' me by putting it away without turning it off). Ordered it from Amazon on my PDA, which was pretty cool. Originally, I got it just to be a stopgap, until I got a permanent laptop replacement. But, I have to tell you, this thing is really powerful. It runs the entire Office 2007 Pro suite smoothly, and I am even running Quickbooks Pro on it (which brought my 5 year old desktop to its knees, when I tried running it on that machine). As it stands now, I am running my 5-person consulting business entirely from this netbook. That just blows my mind. A sub-$350 netbook has replaced a $2,000+ laptop. It is running XP and I bumped it to 2 gig RAM (which was a piece of cake to do), and I am sure that helps. But, I can run multiple Word, Excel and Adobe files, along with multiple Firefox windows, and the machine just works. It even works with my Acecad digital notepad (also purchased from Amazon). AND, when I unplug, I get 7+ hours from a charge. Reliably. With WiFi and Bluetooth on. Gotta love it. So far, no problems with the power strip as reported by others. And, it weighs TWO POUNDS.

Issues:

Weak video (On-line videos and Skype occasionally stutter), but that's to be expected and multimedia was not why I bought it. I don't plan to watch any movies on it.

It CAN bog down, if I try to run too many things, especially when running QBP. But, on a day-to-day basis, it runs just fine.

Little quirks, like a several second lag, when creating a new folder, reconnecting monitor always defaults to max resolution, and it doesn't want to link up with my Verizon PDA for broadband. But, they are few and far between, and there are probably fixes to most of the these that I just haven't researched.

No docking station. It is a bit of a pain to unplug and replug power, monitor, LAN, wireless mouse/keyboard, hard drive back-up and PDA cable, but not the end of the world.

Best unit for the price. I prefer Windows XP operating system over Vista or Windows 7 and I love the built-in camera for video conferencing and the built-in wireless connection capability. The keyboard is also comfortable and not too small. As parents we are already experiencing pressure because the mini is a hot item for the Holidays with most teenagers and college students. Our unit has operated flawlessly so far and the 10 hour battery is a real plus. The trick is to fully charge and then fully discharge this battery several times before you start using it in the regular mode. I believe that all of these units including competitors use the same Intel Atom processor. I also purchaed the optical drive and extra ram. It enhances performance, but is not absolutely necessary because this unit is a full featured machine. It gets you through a lecture, a meeting or even a long flight without the need to recharge. That's a real plus for the members of our family .

Spent most of the summer toying with the idea to buy a netbook, and finally pulled the trigger a month ago. I wanted something that I could use for my personal studies and research and that was less bulky than my 15" Dell Laptop that I use for work. I purchased the ASUS 1005HA with the 10.5 hour battery life. I have been extremely pleased. It worked right out of the box and I was using it within minutes. I tug it around for all my personal stuff and it is light, easy to carry (CaseLogic Bag) and I really do get 10 hours plus use of the battery. My biggest concern was how I would handle a smaller keyboard. For regular typing, the keyboard has worked well. Navigating with the arrow keys and the Fn function key took some time to get used to. I'm 50+ years old, so the screen size was also a concern, but it is adequate for the type of things I use it for. I have had a freeze up twice where the mouse and keyboard stop responding. Just keeping things real, but I love my ASUS!!
